Update on Two Year Old Smoker!

The Two Year Old SmokerThis morning in the newspaper I read that the two-year-old Indonesian boy who smoked about 40 cigarettes a day that I wrote about here has been helped to kick the habit. In fact he received some intensive specialist care according to government sources! The kid, Ardi Rizal, and his habit drew major attention to the fact that the Indonesia’s government has not or does not want to regulate it’s tobacco industry. Continue reading

August 31st, a Milestone!

Just Don't SmokeToday is a milestone! This is day 72 of my Zyban quit smoking program. Yes, day 72! But that’s just the half of it. It’s also my 60th day without a cigarette; that’s right two months without a cigarette. Truly incredible! And I have to admit that I’m beginning to see the light at the end to the tunnel. That sure is a great feeling.

Now I hope those of you from Vancouver saw my posting about the UBC study and the need for volunteers. And I hope you responded if you qualified. It’s studies like these that help to shed more light on smoking and it’s issues. Continue reading

And we don’t want that to happen. By thinking positively, you don’t need to think about handling those slips or accidents because, well, you’re not going to have them. It’s that simple. Besides, planning for moments of weakness can be quite demoralizing. If you start with the attitude that you’re going to make it, then chances are that you will. You will fulfill your own prophesy – that you’re going to make it. Continue reading

August 22nd

Lung AshtrayToday was day 63 for my Zyban program and I have been nicotine free for 51 days. At day 60, I stopped taking two 150 mg pills a day, and I now am only taking one. So far I have not noticed any thing different, but it has not been that long since I made the change. It’s too bad, but I have said that just because I quit, doesn’t mean that I’ll get preachy. The last thing someone needs to hear is that they failed. That’s no help at all. Continue reading
